Here at NuVet, we are pleased to offer complimentary puppy parties. Our nurse Nikita attended a special course on how best to run puppy parties, so that you and your puppy can get the most out of the experience. Our parties are run for puppies between 8 and 16 weeks, after their first vaccination. For photographs of our puppy parties, see here. . Puppy parties have many aims:
- a chance for puppies to interact with unfamiliar animals of their own age and improve their social skills
- a chance to play positively with your puppy
- a chance for your puppy to interact with new humans
- a positive experience at the vet practice
- a chance to ask health and management questions about your new puppy in an informal environment
- basic training tips
Puppy parties are recommended as they have a real impact on the puppy’s early learning and their ability to socialise. Parties are equally important for puppies that have older dogs living at home as they will learn how to communicate effectively with dogs outside of their family – in this way they learn for themselves and don’t just follow the older dog. It also gives you some valuable one-on-one time to bond with your puppy. If you have other dogs at home, you will learn new and effective ways to look after your puppy which may benefit your dog at home as well. Your puppy will also become happier in the veterinary environment because parties increase the number of good experiences they’ve had at the vets.
We would like to reassure you not to worry about coming to a puppy party. We understand that you may be anxious about your puppy and whether they will behave themselves or what will happen if puppy makes a mess. We would like to reassure you that you’re not alone! We are well prepared for all eventualities and are used to puppy antics!
